The moment we are saved through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is just the first step to salvation. Sanctification soon followed. Sanctification is being changed from glory to glory. “Because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:13

There should be evidence that our lives are transformed from the day of our salvation until today. Salvation is a process and continuous, it isn’t a one time deal, everyday we wake-up we can choose to live for God or for ourselves.

Jeremiah 11:4, “Obey my voice and do according to all I command you, so shall you be My people, and I will be your God. We are adopted into a new family.”

Romans 8:9, “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”

Salvation is one time but a follower of Christ is a choice we must make every day of our lives. it is not about perfection, but progression being able to finish the race until the end. We can’t stop in the middle of the race even if it gets hard.

How to progress in Christ?

There should be evidence or a manifestation in our lives the moment we’ve decided to be Christ-follower. Although transformation doesn’t take place overnight, gradually we will be transformed into the path of righteousness.

For instance, when I got converted to Christianity, my life has changed gradually. There was a transformation that took place from the clothes I wore, the music I’ve listened and the old habits that had been broken slowly until the Lord Jesus Christ had finally set me free completely from the bondages.

I had to go through a painful process of healing by allowing God to expose anything wicked in my heart. I had to come into terms with God by no longer pretending that I had been walking and living in sin.

Romans 13:11 “For now salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent the day is at hand. Therefore, let us cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
