God is urging us to go back to His first love when the first time we’ve encountered His goodness. He first loved us before we have loved Him. There are many distractions in the world that when we are not careful will be a form of idolatry in our lives. Idolatry by definition is worshiping an idol or a person other than God. When we place other things or people above God that is a form of idolatry.

In Ezekiel, God warned His people which applies to us today in Chapter 14 verse 6 that says, “Repent turn away from your idols and turn your faces away from all abominations.” God is clear that we must repent and acknowledge our sins when we recognize that we’ve been putting others on a pedestal except for God Almighty Himself.
I wasn’t aware that I was idolizing people from Youtube channel or from Instagram until God had revealed to me that I was putting so much time admiring these people and wishing I have their bodies which are a form of covetousness. Covetousness and idolatry are interchangeable as Paul wrote in Colossians 3:5, “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire and covetousness which is idolatry.”
God is calling us back to draw closer to Him and not harden our hearts when He pursues us to spend time alone with Him in our prayer room. According to Hebrews 3:15, “Today, if you will hear His voice do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” We can get so caught up in our daily lives that we often rush our devotional time with God. We must be on purpose to set time aside for God first thing in the morning so that we wouldn’t have an excuse that we didn’t have the time to communicate with God and give him our undivided attention. Mornings are always the best time for me to seek God and spend time reading and communicating with Him. I do my best to get up early in the morning so that I have plenty of time praying, praising, and meditating in God’s word.
We ought to live a life that isn’t conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God – Romans 12:2. As a child of God, we must change our thoughts and our priorities by putting God first by seeking His presence. We can’t be attached to this world for this world is fading away as 1 John 2:15 wrote, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him. For all that is n the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world.
1 John 2:15“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him. For all that is n the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world.
Therefore, as the day is approaching Jesus Christ’s return we must go back fervently in seeking Him first and let not the world’s busyness sway us in pursuing Him. Let us run the race with endurance. We must be vigilant and watch for the signs of His coming as it said in Matthew 24. All these things must take place before the coming of our Messiah just like a woman who is about to go on labor, she feels contractions and birth pains as you see what is going on around the world, we can see that these events are slowly taking place.
