Proverbs 10:28-29 "The hope of the righteous will be gladness." The way of the Lord is strength for the upright. The righteous will never be removed. The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom.
When you do things righteously, you are living an upright life. If you need wisdom then you can ask God for it. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. It is not because we are afraid of Him. But we reverence Him and we glorify Him because of who He is.
In The Public & In The Secret
Living a life of righteousness must align both in our secret place as well as being in the public eye. Even if men don’t see what takes place behind close door. It doesn’t mean God doesn’t sees. He knows and He sees all things. We can be a person of integrity when we always choose to live life righteously. God always look at our hearts and not based on our outside appearance.
Samuel Was Tested
If you have read the story in the book of Samuel. Samuel was prompted to go to Jesse’s house and anoint the next king in line. God could have specifically instructed Samuel to find David. I believe God was testing Samuel’s standard. To summarize the story, Samuel made a mistake of choosing the next king. Samuel misjudged Eliab because he looked the part. He was good looking, tall and surely Samuel thought that was God’s choice. However, Samuel was rebuked by God right away when he was about to anoint Eliab. As it turns out, David, the youngest son of Jesse was not present. David was overlooked by his family, and as it turns out he was the chosen one.
Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge. The thoughts of the righteous are right. - Proverbs 12:1
